What is so special about IDEN?
In the year 2000AD Rod Stuart compiled a Chronicle of Iden as a ‘snapshot’ of a Domesday village He didn’t set out to rival the original Domesday Book, but by the time it was printed, we had a comprehensive picture of everything from birds to occupations to the electoral roll. We also had a wealth of individual recollections about growing up before and during the Second World War, and why villagers enjoy living here.
Capturing the flavour of the Chronicle, residents reported that Iden… has a feel of undeveloped timelessness…a sense of history …it nestles amid hedges and furrow fields …near enough to the sea to enjoy the sea air …farmers relaxed about signed footpaths, and welcome walkers …no street lights and so we can enjoy a night sky |
